Success story Paks
06. Oct 2017
Paksi Atomerőmű (Paks), is of fundamental importance in securing the country's energy supply. Together with the valves from Seitz, a significant contribution can be made to continuing to generate as much energy as possible, reliably and efficiently under the highest safety standards.

Situation
The nuclear power plant is located in the town of Paks, one hour south of Budapest. The first reactor at Paks was commissioned in 1983, followed by three more within the next four years. Today, the power plant employs more than 2,400 people and produces significant portion of Hungary's electricity.

Seitz valves
Since 2017, Paks has relied on Seitz valves for in particular for isolating the primary and secondary circuits in the event of a failure in the main steam line of the pressurized water nuclear power plant.

After switching to Seitz valves, technical difficulties and shortened maintenance cycles are a thing of the past. Mr. Gábor Somodi and Mr. Attila Herger are responsible for the valves at Paks and therefore also for these highly critical applications, they both agree:
"Since having the Seitz valves installed, we have not experienced any technical issues or problems. The valves function perfectly."
Armatech
Local partner
Paks pursues cooperation with local trading companies, including international suppliers such as Seitz AG. This was the starting point for the cooperation with Armatech Erőműtechnika Kft (Armatech), a Hungarian trading and service company specializing in valves. Its ten employees strive to serve various customers across the country with the best valve solutions available.

Two new reactor blocks
Future
Paks and Armatech will continue to collaborate on future projects. The Hungarian state is currently building two new reactor units at the same site. In addition, the service life of the current plant is to be extended in order to become less dependent on foreign energy sources. The ongoing technical assessment aims to extend the operating time until 2053.
Goal
The facility will produce as much clean and affordable energy as possible under the highest safety standards. We at Seitz are eager to support their vision and will continue to provide our best services to Armatech and Paksi Atomerőmű.
This vision goes hand in hand with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7, which we at Seitz support with our products.
